Chapter 12 - Burner Phones

“Burner phones” are inexpensive phones that can be purchased in retail locations, such as Walmart, grocery stores, and convenience stores, and have pre-paid payment options as opposed to a contract billing. People often think burner phones are a way to get anonymous access to the internet and to make phone calls, but this belief is often incorrect.

Some stores, like Walmart, require identification and credit card or bank information to purchase and activate a burner phone. Some stores require a credit card in order to purchase monthly data and voice access. Also, if you were sign into your Apple or Google accounts on a burner phone, all of your browsing and search data would be associated with you.
